CLEANING AND MAINTENANCE OF ARTIFICIAL TURF
Artificial turf surfaces are constantly exposed to environmental influences such as pollen, dust and foliage. Due to heavy use and lack of care, the infill material is compacted. This hardens the surface and reduces the drainage effect. In addition, the risk of slipping increases with artificial turf due to the formation of weeds, algae and moss. A further accident risk for the sportsmen is posed by contamination such as broken glass, chewing gum leftovers, hair clips, cigarette butts and much more. Regular maintenance of your artificial turf extends its service life, thus also protecting your investment in the long and medium term.

ARTIFICIAL TURF DRY CLEANING
A rotating brush picks up the soiled infill material from the turf surface. Fine particles and dust are extracted and collected in fleece filters. Coarse debris such as stones, broken glass, chewing gum, cigarette butts or leaves are sieved out and fall into the debris box. The clean infill material falls back onto the turf. With the help of a brush roller, the lawn fibres are straightened as much as possible and the infill material is worked into the turf and levelled.
ARTIFICIAL TURF WET CLEANING
Fully artificial (non-filled) turf is wet cleaned using an integrated wet-brush and vacuum system with a water pressure of up to 100 bar. The dirty water is vacuumed off directly in a one-step work process and collected in a separate tank of the container-pump unit. Clean water is continuously pumped by a high pressure pump from the separate fresh-water tank to the front of the machine.

REPAIRS AND RELINING
Damage to the surface due to environmental influences, vandalism, improper use, wear and tear, etc. can considerably restrict its use. Regular maintenance not only ensures the maintenance of the value of the sports facility, but also takes into account the public traffic safety obligation. Failure to do so may result in the plant being shut down.

THE PROCESS OF PROFESSIONAL INTENSIVE CLEANING OF ARTIFICIAL TURF
Over time, fine particles, organic residues and foreign matter accumulate in the artificial turf. This gives rise to various problems:
compaction of the infill material, reduced water permeability, increased risk of slipping and injury, deterioration in ball roll and playing characteristics, accelerated wear and tear of the artificial turf, and the growth of algae, moss and weeds.
Regular intensive cleaning ensures that the artificial turf retains its sporting properties in the long term and significantly extends the lifespan of the pitch.
Step 1: Analysis and assessment of the artificial turf area
Before cleaning begins, the entire surface is inspected. The following points, amongst others, are assessed:
- Condition of the artificial grass fibres
- Level of soiling
- Compaction of the infill material
- Presence of algae, moss or weeds
- Damage caused by wear and tear or vandalism
- Drainage capacity of the surface
The optimal cleaning method is determined on the basis of this analysis.
Step 2: Loading and separating the backfill material
In the next stage, the soiled infill material is removed from the artificial turf pile using a special rotating brush technique.
This process separates different types of dirt from one another: Removal of fine dust and dirt particles
Fine particles and dust are vacuumed up and collected in special filter systems.
Removal of coarse debris
Larger contaminants such as:
- Shards of glass
- Stones
- Cigarette ends
- Chewing gum
- Leaves
- Other foreign objects
are reliably screened out and removed.
Step 3: Cleaning and preparing the infill material
The cleaned infill material is immediately returned to the artificial turf. This ensures that as much of the existing material as possible is retained and prevents unnecessary loss of granules.
This processing ensures that:
- elasticity is improved
- shock absorption is maintained
- the playing surface remains able to withstand even loads
- the cost of new infill material is reduced
A key advantage is the significant reduction in granulate loss achieved by the targeted re-brushing of the material.
Step 4: Straightening the artificial grass fibres
After cleaning, the artificial grass fibres are raised using special brush rollers.
This step ensures:
- a natural appearance
- improved ball roll
- a higher quality of play
- even load distribution across the surface
At the same time, the infill material is worked back into the pile evenly and levelled out.
Step 5: Deep cleaning of unfilled artificial turf systems
A wet cleaning method is frequently used for solid artificial turf or unfilled artificial turf systems.
In this process, the surface is thoroughly cleaned using a flushing and brushing method with water pressure of up to 100 bar. The loosened dirt is extracted directly during the cleaning process and collected in a collection tank.
Advantages of this method:
- Removal of deep-seated dirt
- Restoration of drainage performance
- Improved hygiene
- Removal of organic deposits and biofilms
The process enables a particularly thorough deep clean without leaving any dirt residues on the surface.
Step 6: Checking and documentation
Once the intensive cleaning has been completed, a final quality control check is carried out.
The following are checked:
- Surface uniformity
- Distribution of the infill material
- Condition of the fibres
- Cleanliness of the playing surface
- Any visible damage or areas requiring repair
Where necessary, recommendations for further maintenance measures are made.
