Malaika Mihambo on media day at Sandmaster

The year 2022 is THE year for athletics. After several competitions have already taken place this year, the German Championships in Berlin, the World Championships in Eugene (Oregon, USA) and finally the European Championships in Munich are currently on the schedule.

High media interest

In order to conduct interviews, take photos and shoot films, there was the third Media Day yesterday on the premises of Sandmaster GmbH in Wendlingen.

Numerous representatives of the top German media arrived with journalists and camera teams and asked their questions. Malaika is considered one of the most successful German track and field athletes. When asked, she does not put any pressure on herself, because she has already achieved everything one could wish for.

Anyway, she is currently in the form of her life, we keep all fingers crossed for the upcoming competitions.

Malaika Mihambo voted Sportswoman of the Year again

At this year’s honouring of Germany’s “Sportswoman of the Year” on the fourth of Advent in the Kurhaus in Baden-Baden, Malaika Mihambo was chosen for the third time in a row with a clear lead.

2019, 2020, 2021, World Champion and Olympic Gold Medallist

Malaika won the gold medal in the final of the 2021 Olympic Games in Tokyo after a thrilling game of nerves. She had previously come third and thus brought the long jump gold to Germany 21 years after Heike Drechsler.

Our brand ambassador Malaika Mihambo was considered one of the great German hopes at the Olympic Games in Tokyo this year. And rightly so. Once again she showed stamina and excellent flying skills. In her last attempt she reached 7.00 metres and thus took the lead. Gold for Malaika Mihambo!

The long jump world champion and two-time Sportswoman of the Year has now “jumped” her way to another title: Olympic Champion.

PRESS CONFERENCE WITH MALAIKA MIHAMBO @ SANDMASTER

On Thursday, 15.07.2021, the second press conference with Malaika Mihambo took place on the premises of Sandmaster GmbH. Our two-time sportswoman of the year and world champion in the long jump is about to leave for Tokyo for the long-awaited Olympics, but unfortunately without spectators.

For selected and registered journalists, we offered an environment for interviews, film shoots and photo shoots at our headquarters in Wendlingen. We welcomed representatives from Stern, Bunte, dpa, Sport1 and many more.

Malaika Mihambo is considered one of Germany’s big hopes for precious metal at the Olympics this year. Asked if she felt ready, Mihambo said: “I have learned to believe in myself and I know I can do it”.

In any case, we wish “our” Malaika every success and an unforgettable time in Tokyo. For the long flight there, our Managing Director, Mr Christoph Mayer-Klenk, presented a small gift.
